TEAGUE TEAGUE Bond was denied Wednesday for a man accused of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

Authorities said the suspect has a long list of prior convictions, including voluntary manslaughter.

Deputy Terry G. Fuller has charged Edsel Bill Teague Jr., 41, of 270 Jonestown Road, Chesnee, with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

According to an incident report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department, a 37-year-old Cowpens woman told police she called 9-1-1 after she and Teague began arguing at a residence on Acorn Drive in Cowpens at 1 a.m. Wednesday. She said she feared for her life because Teague was intoxicated. She said he had recently been released from prison.

According to the report, Teague struck the woman on her head and body with his fist after she called 9-1-1. The report further states Teague made the woman get into a vehicle with him and continued the altercation with her while driving recklessly, before finally wrecking on Oak Dale Road at approximately 5:30 a.m.

The woman received medical attention, the report states.

Teague was free on bond after being charged with assault and battery with intent to kill for allegedly stabbing his 21-year-old son at his home in Chesnee on Dec. 17, 2005, according to a Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office report.

The Seventh Circuit Solicitor's Office will ask a judge to revoke that bond during a hearing today in Spartanburg.

Teague's prior convictions date back to 1982 and include housebreaking, grand larceny, attempted robbery, assault and battery, and aggravated assault and battery.
