Christian Coalition will host prayer breakfast for candidates
The Cherokee County Christian Coalition will hold a candidate prayer breakfast Saturday at Ryan's Steakhouse in Gaffney.
County residents are invited to attend the Dutch treat event.
A breakfast and social will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the program at 9. Candidates in the June 13 primaries will be allowed to speak, but all candidates and potential candidates for the general election are encouraged to attend.
Restoration Church pastor Joey Turner and Ashby Blakely will lead the prayer breakfast.
"We want to provide information to voters on where candidates stand on Christian issues," coalition vice president Pat Hyatt said. "We will distribute a survey to candidates and give out voter guides so residents will know more about a candidate's character and beliefs."
Local and state candidates scheduled to attend the breakfast include Sheriff Bill Blanton, Cherokee County Coroner candidate Dennis Fowler, State House of Representatives District 29 candidates Marcia Duncan and Dennis Moss, State House of Representative District 30 candidate Libby Swad and incumbent county councilman Bailey Humphries. Other candidates will attend if their schedules permit.
Each primary candidate will be given two minutes to speak.
The prayer breakfast is open to the public. To RSVP, contact Hyatt at (864) 463-3013 or Lindley Auton at (864) 4896374.
