He was in jail on failure to pay child support
A Rutherfordton, N.C., woman has joined her son behind bars after she allegedly provided the Cherokee County Detention Center inmate with drugs and cigarettes.
Agent Daniel Ward of the Cherokee County Metro Narcotics Unit has charged Cathy Sue Roach, 56, with possession with intent to distribute Alprazolam and providing contraband to an inmate.
She is accused of dropping off a white package that contained 15 Alprazolam (Xanax) pills and cigarettes at a specific location outside the detention center. Authorities said her son, Kenneth Bryan Davis, 37, of Greenville, who was working as an outside trustee, retrieved the package. Davis has been charged
with possession of Alprazolam and possession of contraband by an inmate. He has been placed in the detention center lock down. He was sentenced to nine months in jail or ordered to pay $5,500 after being arrested March 28 for failure to pay child support.
Narcotics agents said they seized a total of 90
Alprazolam pills after seizing pills found in a vehicle belonging to Roach.
Police said they watched the jail after receiving information that there would be a drug drop-off. They said the incident occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Roach remains at the detention center awaiting a bond hearing.
