Mable S. Davis Olivia M. Carnahan
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - Memorial services for Olivia McDaniel Carnahan will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006, at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Mr. Ashby L. Blakely.
Born November 4, 1923, in Trenton, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Paul Bryan McDaniel and Dora T. McDaniel. She attended East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., formerly known as East Carolina Teacher's College. She went to New York with her three brothers and worked for a large advertising firm until her marriage to Rand Granville Carnahan from Nantucket, Mass.
Mrs. Carnahan was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 45 years. Active in community affairs and church activities, she was also a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and nursery school teacher. She resided in Long Island, N.Y., until her death and was a beloved mother and grandmother.
Surviving are two children, Martha Carnahan Goforth and her husband, Dennis Ray, of Boiling Springs, S.C., (formerly of Gaffney) and Rand Granville Carnahan Jr. and his wife, Gladys, of New York; five grandchildren, including Kent Goforth of California and Cathy Goforth Lippincott of Charlotte; and five greatgrandchildren.

Willie D. Sexton
Hickory Grove native
BLACKSBURG - Willie Dover Sexton, 87, of 208 W. Carolina St., died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
Born in Hickory Grove, she was the widow of Woodrow Wilson Sexton and daughter of the late Monroe and Georgia
Martin Dover. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Hickory Grove.
Surviving are a son, William "Buddy" Sexton of Blacksburg; five daughters, Vergie Waldrop of York, Alice Melton of Hickory Grove, Margie Hughey, Nancy Cody and Lisa Buckner, all of Blacksburg; two brothers, Guy Dover of Smyrna and Dock Dover of Hickory Grove; a sister, Mary Lee Bolin of York; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Ray Long.
The family is at the Hughey home, 805 W. Lime St., Blacksburg.

Joyce O'Donald
Oconee County native
Joyce Annette O'Donald, 58, of 110 Brittany Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of Catherine Williams O'Donald and the late John F. O'Donald Sr. She was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a brother, John F. O'Donald Jr. of Gaffney; three sisters, Rita O. Beaty and Betty O. Williams, both of Gaffney, and Shirley O'Donald of Boiling Springs; nine nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Jonathan Michael Petty.
Visitation will be at the residence Friday.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Al McKinney. In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be made to Charles Lea Center, 195 Burdette St., Spartanburg, S.C., 29307; or to Whitten Center, P.O. Box 239, Clinton, S.C, 29325.
The family will be at the residence.

Tillie W. Bradley

MAYESVILLE - Tillie Wilson Bradley of 463 Lower Lee School Road, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2006, in Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter.
A native of Lee County, she was the wife of James Edward Bradley and daughter of the late Henry B. Wilson and the late Annie Mae Primus Wilson. She was a member of New Zion A.M.E. Church in the Wysacky community, where she served in various capacities. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Elliott and later attended Morris College, majoring in secondary education with a concentration in biology. She retired from Campbell Soup Company of Sumter after 24 years of service and following her retirement she worked in the Lee County School System.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Treva Renee Bradley of Elliott, Edward R. Bradley of Bishopville and Deisha T. Ponder of Atlanta; two grandchildren; four brothers, the Rev. Willie Wilson of Sumter (a former pastor of Dunton United Methodist Church of Gaffney), Henry Wilson Jr. of Elliott, Marion Wilson and Jimmy Wilson of Hartford, Conn.; two sisters, Martha Rogers of Mayesville and Beverly Wilson of Camden; and a cousin who was reared in the home as a sister, Catherine Luckey of Elliott.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at New Zion A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Archie Temoney. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
The family will receive friends today from 6-7:30 p.m. at Wilson's Funeral Home, 403 S. Main St., Bishopville.
Luther Johnson Jr.
Cleveland County native
SHELBY - Luther Johnson Jr., affectionately called "Polly," 48, of 417 Rocky Brook Drive, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 6:57 a.m. in Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, N.C., he was the husband of Phyllis Ruff-Johnson and son of Willie Mae Johnson Parks of Shelby and the late Luther Spikes Sr. He was a member of Hopper Chapel Church of Shelby.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by four sons, Timothy Ruff of Georgia, Luther Ruff of Kings Mountain, Twan Johnson of Forest City and Tydis Johnson of Polkton, N.C.; two daughters, Tiffany Johnson and Tacola Johnson of the home; a sister, Brenda Ann Johnson Sarratt of Shelby; stepfather, Earnest Parks of Shelby; two stepbrothers, Reggie Reid of Lawndale, N.C., and Ronnie Mitchell of Shelby; fraternal grandparents, Virgil Spikes and Sarah Spikes; 10 grandchildren; and an aunt, Annie B. "Lucy" Eskridge.

COWPENS - Mable Smith Davis, 76, of 251 Parris Road, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. at her home.
A native of Union County, she was the widow of Deacon Fred Davis and daughter of the late Joe Smith and the late Frances Dawkins. She was a member of Gowdeysville Baptist Church and attended Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are five sons, Joe Davis, Ulysses Davis, Bobby Davis, Freddy Davis and Michael Davis, all of Cowpens; three daughters, Frances Moore, Joyce Gibbs, both of Cowpens, and Patricia Harris of Gaffney; a sister, Elwillie Gatewood of Shelby; 23 grandchildren, two of whom, William Moore and Patricia Moore, were reared in the home; 31 great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Victoria Hughes of Gaffney.
