Man charged with soliciting minor online

MCDANIEL A Gaffney man was arrested after he solicited sex online from an undercover Spartanburg County deputy posing as a 13-year-old girl, authorities said.

charged Mark

Eugene McDaniel, 36, of 3001 Union Hwy., Gaffney, with criminal solicitation of a minor. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Bond was set in Spartanburg County for $75,000.

McGraw said McDaniel initiated a conversation with her while in a Yahoo chat room. The officer said that during that conversation, McDaniel solicited sex from the undercover officer and committed

MCDANIEL a lewd act via a webcam.

Police obtained McDaniel's identity from an Internet Service Provider who gave officers the subscriber's information.

McDaniel was arrested in his home by Spartanburg and Cherokee County deputies. The residence was searched and a computer was seized, said Major Dan Johnson of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.
