Unhappy with mayor's comment about pay raises

Dear Editor:

As a Gaffney native, I find it completely arrogant of our mayor to think so highly of himself above others in the town that elected him as mayor in the first place.

Mr. Jolly states that "I certainly think in my case with all the verbal and written abuse that I've had to take that I and council are worth more than the anticipated raises."

Well, Mr. Jolly, what about your local police officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect all citizens? They should be millionaires by now.

What about the employees who do all of your work? What about the employees who work to beautify our town, a town that YOU are supposed to represent?

If all you have to take is "verbal and written abuse" you should consider yourself fortunate.

No one asked you to run for mayor, it's a decision you made on your own. As far as I am concerned, you deserve NOTHING.

Lisa Upton Gaffney, SC
