Saints go to Sunshine State to brighten outlook
LARRY EPPERLY The Limestone men's basketball team has dipped into Florida to bolster its front line.
The Saints have announced the signings of three players, including 6-4 Jamison Clark, 6-6 Andrae Franklin and 6-4 Sam Hampton.
Clark and Franklin are from Fort Pierce, Fla. Hampton played closer to Limestone at Chester High School.
Clark played at St. Johns River Community College, where he averaged 22 points and three rebounds last season. As a freshman, he was named a Mid-Florida nominee after averaging 12 points and four rebounds.
As a high school senior, he was named the Fort Pierce Tribune Player of the Year and Palm Beach Post First Team All-Area.
"Jamison is a combo forward," Epperly said. "He has the size and strength to be able to play
inside but also has the skills to be able to play on the perimeter. We love the match-up problems he will create."
Franklin played at Indian River Community College, where he led his team to a third place finish.
"We are excited about Andrae," Epperly said. "Andrae's calling card is defense and rebounding. We look forward to him bringing that element to our program next season."
Hampton was a three-year starter for the Cyclones. He was a 2-time all-region player and was selected to the North-South All-Star Game.
"We are thrilled about signing Sam," Epperly said. "He is a long, athletic perimeter player who has the potential of becoming a very good player for us."
