School events
Fifth grade students from B. D. Lee, Draytonville, Goucher and Blacksburg Elementary schools will receive certificates of merit during the D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony Tuesday, May 30, at 9 a.m. at Gaffney High School Auditorium. These students have experienced a semester of drug prevention instruction from Lt. Tim Hartman of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department. A graduation requirement includes a written essay on "The Importance of Saying 'No' to Drugs and Violence." School essay winners will be announced during the program and the winning essays will be read. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Support groups
AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.
