There was little activity at Friday's opening of the City of Gaffney Municipal Election filing period.

Rebecca Cudd-Addington was the lone candidate to pay her filing fees for the nonpartisan election scheduled for August.

Cudd-Addington, an accountant, will challenge incumbent Johnny Little for his District 5 council seat.

Little, who has also served as mayor, has already announced he intends to seek his seventh term on council.

Incumbent councilmen Tom Reid and Bernard Smith and anyone else who would like to file to run for city office have until Friday, June 9, to file.

Reid will be seeking his first full term for the District 2 council seat after winning a special election after the death of Clyde Jones. Reid had a previous six-year stint on council in the early to mid 1990s.

Smith represents District 3.

There is speculation that both Reid or Smith could have opposition this time around.
