SCVRA honors Gaffney staff members, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System
Jean Knox, Cole Gallman, Barry Waddell, Barbara Farmer, David Turnipseed and Lora Chavis (l-r) were among the Gaffney staff members honored for their work with a SCVRD client. Eleven staff members from the S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation Department's Gaffney office were honored recently for their work with a client who had diabetes and had suffered a stroke.
They were recognized at the S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation Association's annual meeting held in April. SCVRD enables eligible South Carolinians with disabilities to prepare for, achieve and maintain competitive employment.
The client also underwent a leg amputated because of an infection. Thanks to the efforts of Lora Chavis, David Turnipseed, Cole Gallman, Jim Hawkins, Barry Waddell, Ernie Hardin, Wayne Mathis, Joan Crain, Holmes Bishop, Jean Knox and Barbara Farmer, he is working as a dispatcher.
In addition, The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System was recognized as the Spartanburg area's outstanding business partner. The company creates at least a
dozen employment opportunities for people with disabilities every year.
David Turnipseed, center manager at SCVRD's Spartanburg Work Training Center, received a Facilities' Service Provider of the Year Award from the Facilities' Service Providers Association. He was recognized for his character, productivity and teamwork.
