Ruth S. Wright

Retired registered nurse

Ruth Summey Wright, 82, of 1316 N. Limestone St., went home to be with the Lord on May 31, 2006, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Born in Erlanger, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Robert Ramsey Summey and Georgia Humphries Summey. She was raised in the home of Rufus and Cecil Proctor. Mrs. Wright was the wife of Columbus C. Wright. She was a retired registered nurse with the Cherokee County Hospital and was a member of Limestone Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Eric Wright and wife, Lou Ann, of Gaffney, Randy Wright of Gaffney and Marc Wright and wife, Kathy, of Taylors; three daughters, Nancy Bailey and husband, Gene, of Spartanburg, Holly Smith and husband, Terry, of Gaffney and Laura Grayson and husband, Jimmy, of Shelby; 10 grandchildren, Michael Bailey, Erica Wright, Jamie Wright, Kelly Wright, Adrienne Wright, Heather Smith, Danielle Smith, Christian Grayson, Caitlyn Grayson and Amber Grayson; and two great-grandchildren, Daniel Bailey and Summer Grayson.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. today at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Revs. Joyce Murphy and Ron Singleton. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the local law enforcement community.

The family will be at the residence.
