Why Bronco's was closed on May 1

Dear Editor:

I am writing to respond to questions from our customers about closing Bronco's on Floyd Baker Boulevard on May 1.

My children are American citizens. I am a naturalized U.S. citizen. None of our workers are illegal but some of them wanted to take off on Monday. We, as a family, decided to keep Hector's restaurant on Highway 105 open and close Bronco's on Baker Boulevard.

We put together the cooks and staff from both restaurants who wanted to work and kept Hector's restaurant open because it is newer and he needs to improve his business.

Many of our customers thought we supported the boycott. What we did was keep one restaurant open. We love being here in Gaffney and don't want people to get the wrong information. My grandchildren attend Cherokee County Schools. We are all members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Thank you for letting me tell why we were closed.

Sincerely,

J. Guadalupe Alvarez Resident: Spartanburg County Citizen: United States of America
