Miss McAbee is bride of Tony Lipscomb
MRS. CHARLES ANTHONY LIPSCOMB (HOLLY LYNN MCABEE) Holly Lynn McAbee and Charles Anthony "Tony" Lipscomb were united in marriage Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Buford Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. Scott Wachter conducted the 6 p.m. double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby McAbee of Gaffney. Her grandparents are Bessie McCullough of Gaffney, the late Arthur "Red" McCullough and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar "Lee" McAbee. A 1996 graduate of Gaffney High School, she received an associate degree in Health Sciences - Dental Hygiene from Greenville Technical College in 2000 and is employed by Pelham Links Family and Cosmetic Dentistry at River Falls in Spartanburg as a registered dental hygienist.
Mr. Lipscomb is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Chaplin and Joe Lipscomb, all of Gaffney. His grandparents are the late Sara Savage and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lipscomb. A 1990 graduate of Gaffney High School, he received a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1995 from the University of South Carolina and owns and operates Harold's Restaurant.
Mr. and Mrs. Lipscomb are making their home in Gaffney after a wedding trip to Jamaica.
Justin Addington was pianist and organist. Stephanie Bettis sang "Parents' Prayer" prior to the ceremony and William Parker Jr. sang "I Will Be Here" during the ceremony. Mrs. Bettis and Mr. Parker sang "The Prayer" at the conclusion of the ceremony.
The altar was adorned with Boston ferns on white columns and two spiral candelabra. A large fresh floral arrangement served as the centerpiece which was placed in memory of the couple's deceased grandparents. The pews were marked with hurricane candles that lined the center aisle.
Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a halter-style A-line gown of white satin designed by Da Vinci. The dress was trimmed with silver and pearl beading on the bodice, skirt and cathedral train. The back of the gown was enhanced with a pleated split. Her two-tier fingertip veil was accented with pearls and rhinestones and fell from a crystal tiara trimmed with rhinestones. She carried a bouquet of stargazers, calla lilies, fuchsia pink, yellow white and cream roses, caspia and greenery wrapped with her deceased grandfather's handkerchief.
Bobbie Sue Price of Gaffney attended her sister as matron of honor. She carried a miniature replica of the bride's bouquet.
Bridesmaids were Amanda "Mandy" Connolly of Spartanburg and Suzanne Whisenant of Gaffney, sisters of the groom; Kayce Daniels, Rebecca Turner, Mel Whisenant, all of Gaffney, and Sharon Davis of Piedmont. They wore black strapless satin embroidered gowns adorned with crystal beading. Designed in a two-piece look, the princess-style dresses were enhanced with a sweeping train. Each carried a stargazer and two roses hand-tied with ribbon.
Whitney Whisenant, niece of the groom, of Gaffney was the flower
girl. She wore a white A-line dress that was enhanced with a pleated split and a black sash. She carried a white satin basket filled with fuchsia pink, yellow and white rose petals.
Banks Connolly, nephew of the groom, of Spartanburg was the ring bearer.
The groom had his father was best man. Groomsmen were JP Connolly of Spartanburg and Kenneth Whisenant of Gaffney, brothers in-law of the groom; David Price, brother-in-law of the bride, Kevin Whisent and Tracy Moore, all of Gaffney. Junior groomsmen were Dillon Price, nephew of the bride, Greyson Jones and Blake Whisenant, nephews of the groom, of Gaffney.
Susan Moore attended the guest register and Kayce Childers, cousin of the bride, distributed programs. Loretta O'Donald was the wedding consultant, director and decorator.
Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at Cherokee National Golf and Recreation Clubhouse. Guests were greeted upon arrival at the reception by Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Daniel.

Prior to the wedding, the engaged couple was honored with several showers and parties.
A miscellaneous shower was given in honor of the bride-to-be on June 11 by Jennifer "JJ" Segina, Mandy Connolly and Bobbie Sue Price at J. Michael's in Gaffney.
On June 23, an "Around the House" shower was given by Suzanne Whisenant and Mel Whisenant at the home of Mel Whisenant.
A His and Hers couples shower was given June 24 by Susan and Tracy Moore, Douglas and Elizabeth Goodenough Jr., Mike and Vivian Martin, Lois Brown and Walt Pritchard, Doug and Liz Goodenough Sr., Jay and Linda Levenhagen, Larry and Rachel Wilkes Jay and Rhonda Blair at the home of Jay and Linda Levenhagen. The couple was honored pool side with a live band and barbecue.
The couple was honored July 15 with a miscellaneous shower by the employees and customers of Harold's Restaurant.
A miscellaneous shower was given Aug. 4 in honor of the brideelect by her employers and coworker at Pelham Links Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Greer.
The bride-elect honored her bridesmaids on Aug. 5 with a surprise spa day. The women received spa pedicures and manicures.
A linger shower on Aug. 6 was given by Kayce Daniels and Sharon Davis in the banquet room at Sagebush Steakhouse.
The bride-to-be and her bridesmaids were honored on Aug. 19 with a bridal brunch at The Piedmont Club by Dr. Amanda Spivey Green. The bridesmaids wrote messages on ornaments for Miss McAbee to have as keepsakes to hang on the couple's first Christmas tree.
A rehearsal dinner was held Aug. 25 at City Range in Spartanburg. Hosts were Mr. Lipscomb's parents.
