Mystery industry expected to have major economic impact on county
The new industrial park near the Cherokee/Spartanburg county line might soon have its first tenant.
Cherokee County Council learned about the unidentified industry during an executive session at Tuesday's meeting with Cherokee County Development Board Director Jim Inman.
The industry is expected to have a major economic impact on the county.
The entranceway to the park has been completed and water and sewer lines are now being installed.
The infrastructure work could be completed within six months.
In other economic news, officials with a company referred to by local development representatives as "Project Wolf" has decided to locate on a site in North Carolina, Inman said.
County council in July granted a tax incentive package to the unidentified company that would have employed as many as 100 workers.
The company, which specializes in injection molding, was considering locating in the Meadowcreek Industrial Park.
