Dennis R. Goforth
BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. - Dennis Ray Goforth, 66, of 476 Sandpiper Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Lloyd D. Goforth and Virginia Black Goforth and husband of Martha Carnahan Goforth.
Mr. Goforth was a graduate of Gaffney Senior High School and also the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy in Long Island, N.Y. He was retired from Magnolia Finishing and Milliken Research Center after 35 years of service as an engineering manager and C.P.E. He was a member of Low Country Presbyterian Church in Bluffton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dennis (Kent) Goforth of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Catherine G. Lippincott of Charlotte; a brother, J. Wayne Goforth of Gaffney; a sister, Jan G. Littlejohn of Myrtle Beach; and five grandchildren, Preston Goforth, Olivia Goforth, Hannah Goforth, Matthew Lippincott and Olivia Grace Lippincott.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, immediately following visitation, conducted by Ashby Blakely and Catherine G. Lippincott.
