Iron City Ministries plans annual auction Nov. 11

BLACKSBURG - Iron City Ministries will be holding its fourth annual "Caring for Our Neighbor" auction on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Blacksburg High School. Events start at 5 p.m. and include a chicken stew supper, bake sale, ice cream, musical entertainment, door prizes, and silent and live auctions.

One hundred percent of all auction proceeds will benefit ICM clients.

All the money raised will purchase food and medical assistance for those in need. ICM is trying to meet the rising demands of food requests. The pantry shelves have often been bare. Over 3,000 people have already requested and received food this year. ICM has a growing request for medical assistance including medicine, emergency doctor and dental visits. The medicines are needed to sustain life, such as blood pressure meds, insulin, heart meds, etc.

Sponsorships are for businesses, churches, and individuals. Sponsorship levels are: "Caring for our Neighbor" Platinum Sponsorship $1,000; "Caring for our Neighbor" Gold Sponsorship $500; "Caring for our Neighbor" Silver Sponsorship $200; and "Caring for our Neighbor" Bronze Sponsorship $100.

Iron City Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based ministry located. The organizations helps people with food, shelter, clothing, power bills, medicine and counseling.

ICM is supported by area churches of all denominations, grants, corporate giving, individuals and fund raising activities. ICM does not turn anyone away because of race, gender or religious background. Over 12,500 people were served last year in 2005.
