Class reunions

The Blacksburg High School Class of 1958 will have a reunion Saturday, Oct. 14, from 7 p.m. until midnight at the old Blacksburg Elementary School (Iron City Place).

Special events

The fifth annual Remember Cliffside Day will be held Saturday, Oct. 14 (rain or shine), at 9 a.m. Breakfast will be served beginning at 6:30 a.m. and lunch starts at 11 a.m.

Meetings

The Gaffney Business and Professional Women's Club will meet Monday, Oct. 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Sagebrush. The Career Woman, the Young Careeriest and the Woman of Accomplishment for 2006-2007 will be honored. Guests and prospective new members are welcome.

Church news

Nazareth Baptist Church in Blacksburg will have revival services Sunday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m and 7 p.m. and Oct. 16-18 at 7 p.m. Evangelist will be Ken Carter. Special music will be provided each night. Guests Monday will be The Hampton Family and guests Tuesday will be Hopewell Baptist Church. A nursery will be provided.

Shady Grove Church's Deaconess, Trustees Wives and Ministers' Wives Ministry will sponsor a diabetes and breast cancer awareness workshop Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. Mary Barnes from Upstate Carolina Medical Center will be the presenter. Lunch will be served. During Sunday morning worship service on Oct. 15, breast cancer survivors will be recognized.

Antioch Baptist Church of Gaffney will have a community fun and fellowship day Saturday, Oct. 14, from noon until 6 p.m. There will be food, games and prizes. Public invited.

A Theology Latte will be held Tuesday, Oct. 17, at noon at the House of Pizza. Participate will discuss Scripture and their salvation story and look at the notion of Holy War and God's People. Denomination is not important. If you have questions, call 489-9453.

Mikes Creek Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 141st anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 15, beginning at the 10 a.m. service. Special guest minister will be the Rev. Don Manning of Gaffney. The celebration will end at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Miller of Charlotte as guest.

The Mixed Ensemble of Limestone Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 19th anniversary Sunday at 6 p.m. Various choirs from the area will be present.

Special events

The Alzheimer's Memory Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 14. Registration is at 10 a.m. in front of the Gaffney Fire Department. Entertainment starts at 11:30 a.m. and will feature Alexis Sowards, 5, of Concord N.C.; Taylor Miller, 9, of Chesnee; Sydney Ford, 11, of Gaffney; Taylor Snuggs, 12, of Gaffney; Randi Sowards, 14, of Concord; ICANDE, singing Rock 'n' Roll and pop; Tayah Campbell, 14, of Shelby; Alex Martin, 14, of Blacksburg; Shannon Grant, 15, of Chester; and Alyssa Puckett, 15, of York.

Fund raisers

The Ebony Class of 1971 will be sponsoring a fish fry today, Oct. 13, at 608 S. Granard St., from 10 a.m. until. Call 487-3171 for orders of 20 or more to be delivered.

Support groups AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.
