Billy Joe Smith, 50, of 304 Serene Drive, husband of Teresa A. Smith, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at 11:33 a.m. at his residence. Son of the late Willie Garrett Sr. and the late Lula Mae Smith Warren, he was born on Dec. 13, 1955, and was reared by his stepfather, the late Joseph Warren, and his mother. He was a member of Bible Way Deliverance and Restoration of Spartanburg and was a member of Gaffney High School Class of 1975. Before retiring from Hamrick Mills after 17 years of employment, he worked at Spartanburg Steel Automotive. He was a former member of Outcast Bikers Club of Statesville, N.C., and a member of Fatboy 95 Club of Gaffney. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Billy W. Austin of Catawba, Rock Hill, and Timothy Dawkins of Gaffney; a daughter, Corinthy Foster of Gaffney; a sister, Karen Jones of Greer; six grandchildren; and his aunt, Nannie Sue Jefferies, who reared him as a son; and two cousins reared as his brothers, Rev. Dennis Smith of Simpsonville and Rev. Gerard Smith of Columbia. Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Limestone Missionary Baptist Church, 807 S. Johnson St., with the Rev. Michael Golden, Bishop Harry Bailey, Dr. Roger Mason, Minister Pam Smith, Rev. Van C. Williams, Pastor Dennis Smith and Prophet Marcella Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Outcast Motorcycle Club, Lamar Smith, Tyrone Smith, Johnathan Dawkins, Byrice Harris and Torrie Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gaffney High School Class of 1975. Flower bearers will be Valencia Ford, Della Sanders, Hilda Houston, Luticia Rodgers, Cassie Williams, Evangeline Adams, Luticia Smith, Marie M. Vendeberg and Kendra Littlejohn. Honorary flower bearers will be Fatisha Sims, Rebecca Littlejohn and members of the Gaffney High School Class of 1975. Arrangements by Foster Funeral Home. |
