BRIEFS Limestone senior Paul Butler of Gaffney is ranked No. 5 among all college classifications in Golfstat's NCAA national standings. Butler has a season stroke average of 68.75. Butler has shot at or under par in every round he has competed this season. He has scored in the 60s on three of the four rounds he has played. He opened the season with a third-place finish at the Anderson Invitational on Sept. 12 with a five-under par 139. He followed that performance by winning the St. Andrews Fall Invitational with an impressive score of 8-under par 136. Darius Smith and Melvin Davidson were the offensive standouts as the Gamecocks topped the Titans, 12-8, in local youth football league action. Bryan Blom and Tom Beattie scored to lead the No. 12-ranked Limestone men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over No. 21 Lander on Wednesday. Joel Moran assisted on both goals. Alexix Brothers scored the only goal as the Lady Saints beat Lander, 1-0, on Wednesday. The Gaffney High volleyball team gave No. 2-ranked Dorman a competitive match before falling 16-25, 23-25, 10-25. Jenna Dillenger, Holly Wolf, Lonteia Logan, Kinsey Clark and Cameron Crocker were bright spots for the Lady Indians, who finished third in the Hillcrest Tournament last month. |
