Gaffney author publishes book
Frederick, MD - PublishAmerica is proud to present To See the World Through Cody's Eyes by Darlene Jones of Gaffney, South Carolina. Cody was born September 17, 2001, six days after our nation suffered the tragedy of 9/11. He entered a world of uncertainty and fear, but no one knew at the time what challenges he would face in his personal journey through life.
Cody was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and communication disorder in the fall of 2005. Throughout the course of denial, acceptance and finally determination to unite his family's world and the world he was trapped in, his unconditional love and unquestionable innocence inspired his family and taught them the true meaning of learning to live one day at a time.
Understanding and learning to cope with Cody's disability has led to the journey of a lifetime. Jones' powerful book is the story of that journey, a lifelong quest to see the world through Cody's eyes.
Darlene Jones was born in 1957 in Prentiss, Mississippi. She lived in the community of Oak Grove until her marriage to Joey Jones in 1981.
Darlene graduated in 1978 from William Carey College with a BA degree in English and Psychology. While in college, she was named in Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities, was a member of Lambda Iota Tau, the Honors Program, and President of the Psychology Club. She has worked with elderly, disabled, and handicapped individuals in a social work capacity.
Darlene and family moved to South Carolina in 1993 where they currently reside. In 2001, her grandson Cody was born and became an inspiration on learning to value each moment and accepting God's plan for her life.
