Helen Louise Giles Splawn, 68, of 306 Norman Blvd., Gaffney, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at her residence.

Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of Ruth Lee Fowler Giles of Gaffney and the late Earl Hampton Giles and was the widow of Kenneth Eugene Splawn Sr.

She was retired from Merita Bakery in Charlotte after 22 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother she is survived by two sons, Kenneth Eugene Splawn Sr. of Kannapolis, N.C., and Douglas Earl Splawn of Woodruff; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Giles of Easley; and two sisters, Shirley Martin and Peggy Woods, both of Gaffney.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Chiquita Lee Splawn; a sister, Frances Ray; and a brother, Larry Giles.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Shuford Hatcher Funeral Home at Frederick Memorial Gardens.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, with the Rev. Terry Pleasant officiating.

The family is at the residence.
