'Christmas on Limestone'window decorating contest

The Downtown Merchants Association is once again sponsoring a window decorating contest for all merchants in the downtown area from Buford Street to Railroad Avenue and from Wall to Petty streets.

Deadline for entering is Monday, Nov. 27, at 5 pm. Judging will take place Friday, Dec. 1, during the Christmas on Limestone celebration. All merchants are asked to leave on the lights in their windows that evening so the judges can clearly see your decorations, even if your business will be closed.

One prize will be awarded for first place. Honorable mention will be given for second and third place.

If you are a merchant in Downtown Gaffney and have not been contacted by a representative of the Downtown Business Association in regards to the contest, contact Pat Throneburg at the Gaffney Information and Visitors' Center, 300 N. Limestone St., or call her at 487-6244.

Christmas on Limestone is set for Friday, Dec. 1, from 6-8 pm. Children's registration for the drawing to help light the City Christmas Tree begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. The tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. with all other activities beginning immediately following the lighting of the tree.
