Retired plumber

Carl Dean Childers, 72, of 188 Fleming Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at his residence.

Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late James Earl Childers and Zelma Lindsey Childers and husband of Frances Medley Childers. Mr. Childers served in the National Guard and was a retired plumber. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Carl Richard Childers and wife, Sandra Humphrey Childers, of Gaffney; four daughters, Frances Jean Wyatt, Debra Lankford, Brenda Schrader and Gloria Coker, all of Gaffney; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Childers was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Greg Little and Mr. Ashby Blakely. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery.

Visitation was held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29341.

The family will be at the residence.
