Democrat Dennis Moss was confirmed by the state Election Commission on Friday as the winner of the state House seat in District 29.

Moss finished with a 64- vote lead over Republican Danny Stacy when the state Election Commission met Friday morning to certify the results for two state offices and two House seats. The state requires a recount where the margin of victory is less than 1 percent.

Moss replaces longtime state representative Dewitt McCraw, who recently retired.

"I am excited about the victory. I am eager to get to work serving the people of District 29," Moss said in a statement Friday. "I would like to thank the Cherokee, Chester and York election commissions for running a quality election."

Stacy could not be reached for comment on his plans.

With the state election results certified, candidates have until Wednesday to challenge the election results.

State elected officers begin their new terms Jan. 10.

Republican Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer was certified as the winner with a 3,108-vote margin of victory over challenger Robert Barber, according to final totals posted on the scvotes.org Web site by the state Election Commission.

Democrat Jim Rex declared victory over Republican nominee Karen Floyd in the state Superintendent of Education race. Rex held a 455-vote lead over Floyd in recount results certified Friday by the state election commission.

Floyd is considering a challenge of the election results.

In House District 115 in Charleston, State Rep. Wallace Scarborough was the winner by 40 votes over Democrat Eugene Platt. Scarborough was elected to his fourth term.
