Education
The Cherokee County Adult/Community Education Program will offering a keyboarding class beginning Tuesday, Nov. 28. Participants will learn the entire computer keyboard, number pad and basic formatting formulas for documents such as letters, memos, resumes and charts. The Cherokee County Service Center of the American Red Cross will be participating in the Christmas on Limestone window decorating contest on Dec. 1 and is asking families who have members serving in the military to submit a framed photo to be placed in the display. The theme of the window will be "Peace on Earth," featuring local men and women who are risking their lives to keep our peace. Photos may be taken to the Service Center, 301 N. Holiday closings
Iron City Ministries in Blacksburg will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 22, Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Cherokee County Solid Waste Collection Department and the Cherokee County Recycling Center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24, in observance of Thanksgiving. The department will pick up all extra items on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1. The receiving bay at the Recycling Center will be open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, for anyone wishing to drop off recyclable materials.
The City of Gaffney Sanitation Department will observe Thursday, Nov. 23, as a holiday. Thursday's route will be picked up Wednesday, Nov. 22, and residents are asked to have carts out on the curbside that day by 7 a.m.

AA meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the building behind Limestone Methodist Church on Carlisle Street. If you have a problem with alcohol, you are welcome to attend.
