Rose Hill Plantation will host holiday open house Dec. 9-10

UNION - Rose Hill Plantation State Historic Site will host its annual Christmas open house from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, and Sunday, Dec. 10.

Visitors to the antebellum plantation will have a chance to enjoy period holiday decorations, hear lively tales of Southern Christmas celebrations, and smell what's cooking for Christmas dinner.

Saturday's events include historic house tours from 10 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m., with an exploration of Christmas life in the slave quarters from noon to 1 p.m.

Events on Sunday will be plantation cooking demonstrations from 10 a.m. to noon and holiday decorating from 1-5 p.m., both in the kitchen house, with historic house tours from 1-5 p.m.

House tours are limited to 20 people and begin on the half hour.

Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 16 and $2.50 for people over 65. For more information, contact the park at (864) 427-5966 or e-mail rosehill@ scprt.com.
