Bicycle rider killed after being hit by automobile

A Chesnee man was killed while riding a bicycle at 11:26 p.m. Friday on Chesnee Highway (Hwy. 11) at Henderson Road in Spartanburg County, according to Lance Cpl. Kathy Hiles of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Walter Curtis Stanley, 44, died in the accident.

A 2004 Buick 4-door driven by Brenda Neal of Blacksburg was traveling north on Chesnee Highway when the vehicle struck the bicycle in the road, Hiles said. Neal was not hurt and was wearing her seat belt.

The accident remains under investigation.
