Hey buddy, gotta smoke?

Cigarettes were stolen during a break-in at Jones Store, 1649 Cherokee Ave., Gaffney, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states.

The burglary occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said someone threw a rock through the glass front door and took an unknown amount of cigarettes. Approximately $200 in damage was done to the door.

Police took two video surveillance tapes into evidence.

. An additional charge has been filed against two Gaffney men who deputies had previously arrested for burglarizing a Vend-A-Moo milk vending machine on Old Post Road in Gaffney.

Detective Lt. David Clary of the Gaffney Police Department has charged Dennis Reginald Fowler Jr., 34, of 109 Cedar St., and Timothy Wayne Whisenant, 21, of 555 Robbs School Road, with grand larceny.

Sheriff's deputies recovered a stolen newspaper box from Fowler's home recently while conducting a investigation into a separate incident, the report states. The box

belongs to the Cherokee Chronicle and was taken from 309 E. Frederick St., Gaffney, police said.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office arrested Fowler and Whisenant on Friday, Nov. 17, and charged them with 3rd-degree burglary, malicious damage greater than $1,000 and petty larceny. Sheriff's deputies have accused them of removing $80 and causing $5,000 in damage to a Vend-A-Moo, which is owned by Harvey Peeler's Farm Inc. of Gaffney. They were connected to the Vend-A-Moo vandalism after a witness got their license plate number, police said.

Bond was denied for both suspects.

. A $5,000 coin collection was stolen from a home in the 100 block of Camelot Drive, Gaffney, a report at the Gaffney Police Department states.

The property owner reported to police Monday that someone stole his coin collection. The theft occurred sometime after June 20.

Detective Sgt. Ron Ramsey of the Gaffney Police Department is investigating.
