Don Henson
COWPENS - Don Edward (Popa) Henson, 61, of 419 Oakdale Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at his residence.
Born in Asheville, N.C., he was the loving husband of Rhonda Jones Henson for 25 years and son of the late Austin T. Henson and Bonnie Henson. Mr. Henson was a heavy equipment operator, diesel mechanic and worked in construction. He became disabled in 1997 with emphysema and COPD. Hospice Care of S.C. came in and helped the family with loving kindness and gentle care. Mr. Henson was a loyal husband, father and friend. A U.S. Army veteran, his hobbies were fishing and raising show chickens. He was of the Baptist faith.
Also surviving are a daughter, Linda Wyatt Rhinehart and husband, Tim, of Clover; a son, James W. Wyatt of Gaffney; and two grandchildren, Timothy J. Rhinehart and Tyler Wayne Wyatt.
Mr. Henson was preceded in death by a son, Stanley W. Wyatt.
Mr. Henson had three children from a previous marriage, Donna, Charlene and Junior; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 1-3 p.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Services will be held at 3 p.m. at the church, immediately following visitation, with Dr. Larry Cain and the Rev. Tommy McFalls officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Scott Scruggs, Calvin Scruggs, Ronald Scruggs, David Setzer, Preston Clinton, Junior Henson and Richard Fortner.
Honorary pallbearers, Sullivan Scruggs Jr., Charles Scruggs and Glenn Scruggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of S.C. 1612 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
The family will be at the residence.
