Blue Devils, Pack go overtime in youth league

The Blue Devils and Wolfpack had to work overtime to determine a winner in the Cherokee County Youth Basketball League Friday at B.D. Lee Elementary School.

J'Man Tate scored 12 points as the Blue Devils edged the Wolfpack, 25-23, in double overtime. Wendell Bonner had 10 for the Wolfpack.

The game was knotted at 23 at the end of regulation. There was no scoring in the first overtime.

In a Division I matchup, defending champion Suns avoided a 2-game losing streak with a 37-36 win over the Clippers.

Kelvin Morris led the Suns with 10 points. Johnny Wood had 12 for the Clippers.

Reigning Division III champion Bulldogs got past Tymes Up, 29-17. Karahn Bonner had 14 for the winners.

L&L Realty jumped to a 20-point lead and held off a late rally for a 44-25 win over the Lakers. Desahwn Dawkins had 14 for L&L Realty. De'Edward Burris had 20 in a losing cause.

Kobe Hollis and Jazz Palmer combined for 22 points as One Time downed the Clippers, 45-24, on Wednesday night.

Darrius Howell scored 13 in a losing effort.

The scoring combo of Tyler Hamilton and Kenny Wilson put on a show, with Hamilton hitting

three from the beyond the arc, but it wasn't enough as the 76ers beat the defending Division I champion Suns, 43-36.

Montreal Williams had nine for the Suns.

In Division II action, L&L Realty used a stifling defense and hot shooting from Scott Morgan and Shaquisha Dawkins to topple the B&B Trojans, 45-23.

Morgan had a game-high 18 points and Dawkins connected on two three-pointers for six of her 14 points.

In the final game, a shorthanded Heat squad stayed close behind the scoring of Emison Hughes before falling, 36-25, to the Kings. Hughes had nine points.

Daniel Mitchell scored 11 for the Kings.
