Theater opening pushed back You’ll be able to watch that Hollywood blockbuster at a state-ofthe art theater a little later than expected. American Family Entertainment Center’s (AFEC) 60,000 square-foot, $6.8 million entertainment center, which will feature eight state-of-theart stadium seating movie theaters, is now scheduled to open in early February, AFEC Southeast President Dave Kowert said. Kowert had hoped to open the entertainment center, which is located on an outparcel at Prime Outlets — Gaffney, in mid-December and in time for holiday movies. A restriction found during the title search is the reason for the delay. Kowert said the matter has been resolved and contractors have returned to the work site. “We finally managed to close the deal,” Kowert said. “It set us back about 12 weeks.” Kowert said the equipment has been moved into the building and workers are currently laying the flooring. Once the handicapped-accessible ramps are complete, workers will install the theater seats, he said. The 16-lane bowling alley should be finished in a couple of weeks, he said. “We are in finish mode,” he said. “The staff has been hired and the general manager is ready to roll.” The entertainment center will include a 16-lane bowling alley as well as children and adult arcades, a food court and a sports bar. The bowling alley can be expanded to 24 lanes. |
