Robbery suspect chased down and detained by three Gaffney men

A robbery suspect from Charlotte was chased down and apprehended by three Gaffney men after the suspect allegedly stole $50 from a pickup truck in Gaffney.

Sgt. Scott Tallent of the Gaffney Police Department has charged Jackie Ray Bomar, 45, with resisting arrest, larceny and breaking and entering an automobile.

Bomar is also wanted for robbery by the Charlotte- Mecklenburg Police Department, which will extradite Bomar, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.

Bomar approached Hames Ray Mullinax and asked for money at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, at Granard and Meadow streets. According to the report, Bomar noticed $50 laying in a pickup truck and he went into the truck and grabbed it.

Mullinax and two witnesses, 39-year-old Shannon Shay Oursbourn and 19-year-old James Edward Henderson, chased Bomar for two blocks and caught up with him near Frederick and Logan streets. The men detained Bomar until Gaffney police arrived.

Nothing like

a good steak

A Fayetteville, N.C., man allegedly stole four steaks from Ingles, 410 W. 3rd St., Gaffney, at 6 p.m. Monday, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy William Hammond has charged Bevan Edward Grice, 26, with shoplifting.

Store employees told police a white man wearing tan pants and a Carolina jacket and standing between 6 feet and 6 feet, 3 inches tall, left the store without paying for the items, police said.

Grice, who matched the description, was located a short distance away from the store and was out of breath, the report states.

The jacket was located between Grice and the store. A store employee positively identified Grice as the shoplifter, the report states.

Blacksburg man

faces drug charges

Narcotics officers seized approximately 7.4 grams of crack cocaine at 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

Agent Jerry Smith of the Cherokee County Metro Narcotics Unit has charged Christopher O’Brian Parker, 20, of 103 S. Mountain St., Blacksburg, with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine within a half mile of a school or playground.

Narcotics officers found a bag containing crack cocaine on Parker when they stopped him in the roadway of Killion Street in Blacksburg, the report states.

Man admits to

stealing DVD player

A Taylors man is accused of stealing a DVD player from Radio Shack, 141 Walton Drive, Gaffney, according to a report at the Gaffney Police Department.

Officer J.S. Blackwell of the Gaffney Police Department has charged Warren Lee Stanton, 23, with shoplifting.

The officer located Stanton at Big Lots at 11 a.m. Monday after being told by Radio Shack employees that Stanton concealed the DVD player in his backpack and exited the store without paying, the report states.
