Carolyn Gray Carolyn Novak Gray, 66, of 168 Ruth Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. A native of East Chicago, Ind., and a longtime resident of Calumet City, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Novak and Anna Hoffek Novak and wife of Melvin Gray. She was a homemaker and loved to crochet. Mrs. Gray was a member of New Harvest Church of God. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Dawn Stevenson and husband, Scott, of Calumet City, Ill.; two sons, Melvin A. Gray and wife, Susan, of Chesapeake, Va., and Jeffrey Gray and fiance’, Sabrina, of Shelby; a brother, George Novak and wife, Diana, of Cary, N.C.; a sister, Frances Schermerhorn of Highland, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Frederick Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Robert Wells.
