A 24-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Upstate Carolina Medical Center after someone cut his throat, a report at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office states.

Ryan Brooks Beason of Corinth Road, Gaffney, said he was sitting on a front porch at 802 4th Street at 3:55 a.m. Saturday when a black man ran up to him and used an unknown object to cut his throat. He told police the man said "I got you now, you white (expletive)."

A neighbor said he heard someone screaming and went to the residence and saw the suspect running east on 4th Street, according to the report. The neighbor tried to run after the man, but lost him on 4th Street.

Beason could only describe the man as wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and jogging pants.
