Felony DUI charges
Man pleads guilty in wreck that hurt kids
The father of an 8-year-old Gaffney girl who was killed in a July automobile crash has admitted he was driving drunk when he wrecked his vehicle in October, injuring two children. Robert Moore, 29, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of felony driving under the influence with great bodily injury and one count of child endangerment. Circuit Court Judge Mark Hayes withheld sentencing until the court could determine if insurance would cover part of the children's $50,000 hospital bill. Assistant Seventh Circuit Solicitor Michael Morin said Moore sustained leg and hip injuries. One of his children had a broken leg and is undergoing therapy. Another child had a chipped bone in her hip and has since recovered. The third child was not injured. All three children are living with their mother in Tennessee. Sentencing will not likely occur before March, Morin said. Moore could face up to 15 years in prison on the felony drunk driving charges. The child endangerment charge carries a potential three-year sentence. Moore's daughter Peechis Sierra Moore died July 8 after she was struck by a Dodge pickup driven by Jonesville Police Chief David Parker, who was indicted last week on a charge of reckless driving. Parker, 34, was driving north on White Plains Road when he struck and killed Moore, of 102 Massey Drive, Gaffney. The indictment accuses Parker of driving in reckless disregard for the safety of others, causing Moore's death. |
