Your generosity made 2006 Christmas program a success
Dear Editor:
Thanks to all the support we received from within our community, our 2006 Christmas program was a huge success. With your help we were able to provide a brighter Christmas for 906 of our neighbors who, for one reason or another, found themselves in need of Christmas assistance. A total of 653 children were facing the threat of having to get up on Christmas morning to find nothing under their tree for them; but with your help, these children woke up to a great Christmas with toys and/or clothes under their trees. The residents at the various nursing homes were remembered as well with gifts to brighten their day. None of this would have been possible had it not been for you. Maybe you adopted an "angel" from the Angel Tree, rang the bell to help collect needed funding in order for us to be able to lend a helping hand to someone in need, helped us pack the food baskets and/or toys to be distributed, assisted with distributing the items on Distribution Day, responded to the mail appeal you received in the mail or provided media coverage. This is just to name a few of the areas in which the community rallied together to make Christmas a joyous day for everyone. In whatever capacity you were able to help, thank you from the very bottom of our hearts. If you could see the look on the faces of these families who thought Christmas was going to be "just another day," you would know your efforts to make the 2006 Christmas program a success were well worth your time and/or money. May God bless each of you for your kindness and generosity. Sincerely yours, Major David Johnston Corps Officer The Salvation Army Gaffney, SC |
