      Dear Annie: I'm 19 and attending college. I room with five other girls, and the father of one of them, "Debbie," owns the house we live in. The problem? Debbie believes that since it is her father's house, she gets to make all the rules. We all agree on no drinking, smoking or doing drugs, but she likes to make up others.

Cherokee Conservation District celebrates Arbor Day with students at Village School
      The Cherokee Soil and Water Conservation District celebrated Arbor Day on Dec. 8, 2006, at The Village School in Gaffney. The Conservation District was represented by Beth Bradley, district coordinator for the Conservation District; Jane Waters, associate commissioner; and Ken Forrester, program coordinator of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

      COLUMBIA- Camp Burnt Gin, South Carolina's residential camp for children, teenagers and young adults who have a physical disability or chronic illness, is accepting applications for staff and for children to attend the camp's 2007 season, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has announced.

      Senior Center events ¦ If you like to knit or crochet, "Hooks and Needles with Love" needs your help. Red scarves are needed by Friday, Jan. 26, to be shipped to Virginia for Valentine bags to be given to orphans attending college. Also, by Friday, Feb. 9, 65 hats or scarves are needed to be sent out in Valentine bags to homebound clients of the Gaffney Senior Center.

Drug may delay cancer's return after pancreas surgery

      CHICAGO - Offering a glint of hope for treating a notorious killer, researchers found that a common chemotherapy drug can help pancreatic cancer patients who have undergone surgery stave off a return of the disease longer. In the German study, the group receiving Gemzar, or gemcitabine, lived on average of 13.4 months without their cancer coming back.

After all, who counts calories before grabbing a jelly-filled with their morning cup of joe? ''It doesn't matter how delicious it is.
