Gospel concert Jan. 27 to benefit J.R. Davidson

There will be a benefit concert for J.R. Davidson in Gaffney High School Auditorium on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m.

Davidson, who has been a patient at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center since November, 2006, is the son of Robert and Donna Davidson of Gaffney. He is a musician who has served many churches and choirs in the area as minister of music.

A combined concert choir will be formed in his honor and will sing at the benefit. Churches and choirs that Davidson has assisted are asked to send at least two or more to participate in the choir. The first rehearsal will be on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. at Suck Creek Baptist Church.

Minister Brian Wilson, a former lead singer for the Mississippi Children's Choir, will also be in concert with the choir.

Tickets will be $10 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased from Davidson and Wilkins family members. For more information contact Harold and Caroline Jones, 704-434-8869,
