U.S. Navy, Army veteran of World War II

Robert L. Morgan, 83, of 207 Estelle Road, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at 11:26 p.m. in Upstate Carolina Medical Center.

A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Dever Morgan and the late Eva Bonner Morgan. He was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Syracuse (N.Y.) University for two

years and was a

member of Mount

Sinai Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Crucible Steel Co. in Syracuse.

Surviving are two daughters, Thelma Morgan of Charlotte and Gloria Carn of Atlanta; a son, Paul Edward Morgan of Charlotte; a brother, Rufus Morgan of Charlotte; three grandchildren, John M. Morgan, Leonard Lee Morgan and Jalisa Evonne Morgan of Charlotte; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. C.A. Wallace. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be the deacons and trustees of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and flower bearers will be the church's deaconess.
