Lady Saints tabbed conference's best

      The Limestone Lady Saints lacrosse team is ranked No. 1 in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, as released by the league office on Wednesday. Limestone finished last season with a 16-4 overall record (9-1 CVAC). Pfeiffer and Queens round out the top three slots in the poll as voted on by the conference's head coaches.

Shooting woes plague Indians

      Put the basketball in the goal. That's the cure for the Gaffney Indians' ailing offense. Gaffney shot just 32 percent from the field in a four-point loss to visiting Boiling Springs on Tuesday. The loss dropped the Indians out of first place in the region standings. Gaffney is 7- 3, one-half game behind Spartanburg.

Blacksburg faces tough foe in top-ranked Tigers

      Blacksburg coach Travis Miller knows his team will be the underdog at top-ranked Southside today. "Southside is the No. 1 team in the state," Miller said. "They are very good and deserving of the No. 1 ranking." The Tigers beat the host Wildcats by 20 in the teams' first matchup. Bobbie Dreher had 25 points as the Tigers overcame a cold-shooting first-quarter to beat Blacksburg, 70-50.

      LC hoop game postponed The Limestone College men's and women's basketball games at Lees- McRae originally slated for tonight have been postponed. The Saints will travel to face the Bobcats in Banner Elk, N.C., on February 19. The women will play at 5:30 while the men's game will start at 7:30 p.m.
