Saints fall to third after loss at Queens

      Another game with Queens. Another close loss for the Limestone men's basketball team. Darnell Evans scored 23 points and John Thompson added 13 as Queens swept the series with the visiting Saints with a 66-63 win on Saturday. Queens edged the Saints by two points on Jan. 3.

¦ Reserves key win over Bruins, Indians ready for playoffs

      After a stretch of some close region games, the Gaffney Indians got a breather to end the regular season on Friday. Johnny Woods had 16 points and David Dewberry added 15 as the Indians routed homestanding Lancaster, 82-50, to end the season at 18- 5 overall. The Bruins fell to 2-19.

Undersized junior varsity completes perfect season

      No height. No depth. No Emison Hughes. No David Dewberry. Not a problem for the Gaffney junior varsity basketball team. Playing without a starter over 6'-1" and Dewberry and Hughes, who were called up to the varsity, the Indians finished with a perfect 20-0 record.

Last-second layup lifts Gaffney over Granard, 50-49

      Edward Bigby hit a layup with 17 seconds left as Gaffney Middle outlasted Granard Middle, 50-49, Saturday to win the Little Six championship. Gaffney Middle led the entire game and held a 43-28 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Chiefs managed only three more baskets after Granard Middle switched to a halfcourt trap defense.

      Gaffney wide receiver Tyson Petty signs a grant-in-aid with Gardner webb on Wednesday, the national signing day. Joining him at the singing are grandmother Minnie Petty, mother Deidra Camp, father Maurice Petty, Gaffney High Principal Dr. Quincie Moore, Gaffney football coach Phil Strickland and wide receiver coach Tom Owens.
