Saints fall to third after loss at Queens
Limestone's Terrell Smith scored a team high 22 points in a loss at Queens on Saturday. Another game with Queens. Another close loss for the Limestone men's basketball team.
Darnell Evans scored 23 points and John Thompson added 13 as Queens swept the series with the visiting Saints with a 66-63 win on Saturday. Queens edged the Saints by two points on Jan. 3.
The win gives the Royals a 12-3 conference mark and sole possession of second place in the CVAC.
Limestone falls to third at 10-4.
Queens led 34-32 at the half and shot 54 percent from the field in the second half to maintain their advantage. The Royals shot just 53 percent at the line, making 16 of 30 free throws.
Terrell Smith had 22 points and Andre Coleman had 12 to lead the Saints, who shot just 33 percent from the floor.
The Royals made 46 percent of their shots from the field.
In women's action, Monica Adams had 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lady Saints to a 58-42 victory.
Adams was 10 for 14 from the field. Reserves Regan Robbins had eight points and Blanca Gonzalez added six points.
Limestone improves to 6-8 in the conference. Queens has just one conference win in 15 games.
Limestone hosts Belmont Abbey today. The women's game will begin at 5:30 p.m. The men's game will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
