Forget the fiery halftime speeches or the strategic adjustments to the game plan.

Limestone women's basketball coach Corey Fox had a simple explanation for his team's improved second-half play.

"We just played better," said Fox after his team's 76-61 win over visiting Erskine in a firstround conference tournament matchup on Monday. "Tiffany (Jones) played better. We played better defense and we got great ball pressure."

The result was a stunning reversal from a first half dominated by the Flying Fleet, who led by as many as 17 points and took a 41-30 advantage into halftime.

But it took the Lady Saints just eight minutes to erase the deficit and tie the game at 52 on Lindsay Kyle's three-pointer with 11:40 to play.

Ariel Lyons' two free throws gave the Lady Saints the lead at 56-54. Blanca Gonzalez made a three-pointer to extend Limestone's lead at 60- 54.

Erskine pulled within two but it was all Limestone in the game's final five minutes. Gonzalez hit another three pointer to put the Lady Saints ahead 68-61.

Monica Adams had a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Gonzalez had 17 points and Kyle added 16.

The Lady Saints jumped to a 10-5 lead but Erskine answered with a spurt to take a 16-15 lead.
