Woodruff tops

Blacksburg, 4-1

Blacksburg scored its only run in the sixth in a 4-1 region loss to Woodruff on Tuesday.

Dustin Byars got the loss for the Wildcats, who left nine runners on base.

"Dustin pitched a great game but we didn't play to our full potential," Blacksburg baseball coach Toby Elliott said.

LC golfers

finish 12th

The Limestone men's golf team finished 12th at the AASU/Southbridge Pirate Invitational on Tuesday.

The Saints shot 636. Former Gaffney star Paul Butler was the Saints' top finisher with a 145.

Georgia State won the tournament with a 574.

Lady Indians

nip Broome

Kristi Caldwell had the only goal in the Gaffney High girls soccer team's 1-0 win over Broome on Tuesday. Gaffney goalkeeper Kayla Wolff was credited with a save.

Clarifications

Logan had three goals and Allison Howard and Melanie Gallman each had a goal to lead the Gaffney High women's soccer team to a 5-1 win over Andrew Jackson in the championship game of the Cyclone Cup Saturday. The Ledger misidentified the scorers in Monday's story.

Will Blanton will see action as a pitcher on this year's Gaffney High varsity baseball team. His name was omitted from the team preview.
