Man airlifted after shooting A North Carolina man was critically wounded when he was shot in the throat at a local nightclub early Sunday. Carlos Surratt of Lawndale was shot at approximately 2 a.m. at Peggy's Place, said Master Patrol Officer Steve Green of the Gaffney Police Department. Surratt, whose exact age is unknown, was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Surratt was listed in serious condition early Monday, a hospital spokesperson said. While there was a large crowd at the nightclub, Green said police were unable to get much information about the events that led to the shooting. Surratt is believed to have been among a group of residents from the Shelby, N.C., area who were at the nightclub when the shooting occurred, Green said. Police are still investigating the shooting incident to determine a possible motive, the type of weapon used and to identify a suspect. |
