Church - Smith couple exchange wedding vows
MR. AND MRS. THOMAS EUGENE SMITH JR. Leslie Michelle Church and Thomas Eugene Smith Jr. were married Dec. 6, 2006, at Berry Memorial Baptist Church. Pastor S. Michael Miller officiated the 4 p.m. double ring ceremony that was followed by reception in the church fellowship hall.
The bride is the daughter of Angela and Mike Spencer of Gaffney and Lester and Lynn Church of Cleveland, Ohio. Her grandparents are Jane Teague of Gaffney, the late Lessie "Tootsie" Church, the late Cecil Church, the late Charles Dean Largent Sr. and the late Betty S. Spencer. She graduated from Gaffney High School in 2004 and is employed by Wal-Mart Portrait Studio.
The groom is the son of Josephine Anita "Lex" Smith, Tony Jefferson and Thomas Smith Sr., all of Gaffney. His grandmothers are Winnie Smith of Gaffney and the late Minnie Anderson. A 2003 graduate of Gaffney High School, he is employed by Atlas Refrigeration.
Music was provided by Earl Vernon, pianist and vocalist, and Teresa Jameson, vocalist.
The church was decorated with red Christmas poinsettias and greenery.
Given in marriage by her stepfather, Mike Spencer, the bride was attired in a white floor-length dress featuring a halter-style bodice and flowing train adorned with pearls, sequins and ribbons. Her waist-length veil was attached to a tiara and she carried a bouquet of white roses trimmed with pearls and a white ribbon bow.
Megan Jane Church attended her sister as maid of honor. She wore a green sleeveless floor-length dress and carried three longstemmed red roses.
Deana Lynne Church, sister of the bride, served as flower girl and wore a white street-length dress trimmed with pearls and sequins. She carried white rose petals in a white basket trimmed with white ribbons.
The groom was attended by his brother, Vincent "Man" James, as best man and Davonte Foster, nephew of the groom, served as the ring bearer.
