Blacksburg student honored by U.S. Achievement Academy
Tia Smith The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Tia Smith of Blacksburg has been recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student Award winner.
Smith, who attends Blacksburg Middle School, will appear in the United States Achievement Academy official yearbook, which is published nationally.
"Recognizing and supporting our youths is more important than ever before in America's history. Certainly, the United States Achievement Academy winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement," said Dr. George Stevens, executive director of the USAA.
The USAA National Honor Student Awards provide honor students with many benefits and services and is a great tribute to a student's dedication, talent and ability.
Smith is the daughter of Gerald Smith of Gaffney and Diane Smith of Blacksburg. Her grandparents are Minnie Smith, Lamar Smith, both of Gaffney, Linda Gibbons of Detroit, Mich., and Mason Belcher of Pikeville, Ky.
