Local students recognized for achievement
ANTONIO PARKER The United States Achievement Academy has announced that Antonio Parker and Uqawla S. Dawkins of Gaffney have been recognized for academic achievement as United States National Honor Student Award winners.
The Ewing Middle School students will appear in the United States Achievement Academy official yearbook, which is published nationally.
"Recognizing and supporting our youths is more important than ever before in America's history. Certainly, the United States Achievement Academy winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement," said Dr. George Stevens, executive director of the USAA.
The USAA National Honor Student Awards provide honor students with many benefits and services and is a great tribute to a student's dedication, talent and ability.
Parker is the son of Patricia Foster and Jimmy Parker of Gaffney. His guardian is Selena Haney McCluney of Gaffney. His grandmother is Betty Jo Parker of Gaffney and step-grandfather is Eskridge Garrett.
Dawkins is the daughter of LaTonja Dawkins and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dawkins, all of Gaffney.
