Riverbanks extends weekend hours

COLUMBIA - Visitors to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden will an extra hour every Saturday and Sunday through mid- September. The change coincides with the revised daylight savings schedule, allowing Riverbanks to remain open until 6 p.m. on the weekends a little earlier this year.

Zoo-goers can take a ride to the Botanical Garden on Riverbanks' new trams. The zoo has three new trams to transport visitors from the zoo across the Saluda River to the Botanical Garden and back.

Riverbanks is located at I-126 and Greystone Boulevard. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and is open daily except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Admission is $9.75 for adults, $7.25 for children ages 3-12 and free for children under three. Group rates and other discounts may apply.
