Sanny Wolfe, City of Gaffney Public Works Director, dies at age 64

Sanford Augustus Wolfe Jr., 64, of 524 Silica Springs Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2007, at his residence.

Born in Mocksville, N.C., he was the husband of Becky Spencer Wolfe and son of the late Sanford Augustus Wolfe Sr. and Frances Deaver Wolfe. He graduated from Gaffney High School, attended Clemson University and was the Public Works Director for the City of Gaffney.

Mr. Wolfe was a member of The Barbershop Harmony Society for 39 years and sang lead in the Upper Echelon Barbershop Quartet. He was a lifelong member of Buford Street United Methodist Church and attended Limestone Street United Methodist Church, where he served as the Music Director for 21 years.

In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Robert Sanford Wolfe of Gaffney and Christopher Randall Wolfe and wife, Kim, of Alpharetta, Ga.; a daughter, Brantlie Rebekah Wolfe of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Linda Wolfe Wyndham and Kathy Wolfe Roach, both of Walterboro; and two grandchildren, Justin Christopher Wolfe and Morgan Victoria Wolfe, both of Alpharetta.

Mr. Wolfe was also preceded in death by a sister, Ramelle Wolfe McCloy.

Services will be held today at 4 p.m. at Buford Street United Methodist Church with the Revs. Ron Singleton, Scott Wachter and Joyce Murphy officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Garrett Spencer, Mickey Harmon, Chris Kennedy, Jimmy Wyndham, David Clary, Doug Spencer, Buddy Metz and Shawn Harmon.

Honorary pallbearers will be City of Gaffney employees, Gaffney Public Works Department and Limestone Street United Methodist Church Choir.

Visitation was held from 4- 6 p.m. Sunday at Blakely Funeral Home.
